Henry VIII: Portrait by Hans Holbein

This is a portrait of Henry VIII painted by an artist that was very famous at his time called Hans Holbein. This portrait shows Henry VIII standing with his legs wide apart. I think he positioned himself like this in order for him to look powerful, wealthy and bold. He wore fancy accessories and gold clothing that showed how wealthy he was and his posture and the swords he was holding in his hands showed how powerful he was and his military role.

The hat he was wearing was very fashionable at that time. Normally kings had crowns on their head but Henry VIII chose to wear a hat instead.
